Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the nidata.fyi home page, why, and what your rights are. The short version: this site doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t ask you for any personal information, and only uses privacy-friendly analytics that don’t identify you.
This policy covers nidata.fyi only. The projects and other websites linked from the home page are separate sites with their own privacy policies.
Who is responsible for your data
nidata.fyi is run by Adam McBride, who is the data controller for any personal data processed through this website. You can contact me at adam@dynumo.co.uk.
Cookies
This website does not set any cookies and does not use local storage or similar technologies to store information on your device. Because of this, you won’t see a cookie banner.
Analytics
To understand how many people visit the site and which links are useful, I use two privacy-focused analytics services. Neither uses cookies, neither tracks you across other websites, and neither lets me identify you as an individual.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
The site is served through Cloudflare, and I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which includes Real User Monitoring (RUM). This measures how quickly pages load and records anonymous, aggregated information such as the page visited, the referring website, the country, and the browser and device type. Cloudflare says it does not use cookies or local storage for this, and does not fingerprint visitors. You can read more in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Plausible Analytics
I also use Plausible Analytics, an open-source, EU-hosted analytics service. Plausible counts visits using a random identifier made from your IP address and browser details, combined with a secret that changes every 24 hours. Your IP address is not stored, and the identifier can’t be used to recognise you on another day or on another website. Plausible only gives me aggregated statistics such as page views, referring sites, approximate country, and device and browser type. You can read more in Plausible’s data policy.
Server and security logs
Like almost every website, the servers that deliver this site automatically process technical information when you visit, including your IP address, the date and time of your request, the page requested and your browser’s user agent. This is needed to deliver the page to you and to protect the site against abuse and attacks. Cloudflare processes this information as part of its hosting and security services and keeps it only for a limited period, in line with its own policies. I do not use these logs to identify visitors.
Summary of information processed
| Information | Who processes it | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP address, request details and user agent | Cloudflare | Delivering the website and keeping it secure | Legitimate interests |
| Anonymous, aggregated visit and performance statistics | Cloudflare Web Analytics | Understanding site performance and usage | Legitimate interests |
| Anonymous, aggregated visit statistics | Plausible Analytics | Understanding which pages and links are useful | Legitimate interests |
| Anything you include in an email to me | Adam McBride | Replying to your message | Legitimate interests |
My legitimate interests are running a secure, reliable website and understanding, in general terms, how it is used so I can improve it. I’ve chosen tools that minimise the data collected so that this doesn’t override your privacy.
If you email me
If you contact me by email, I’ll use your email address and anything you tell me only to reply to you. I won’t add you to a mailing list or share your details with anyone else. I’ll delete the correspondence when it’s no longer needed, normally within 12 months.
Sharing your information
I don’t sell, rent or share personal data. The only third parties involved are the service providers named above, who process data on my behalf to run the website. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, including my other projects, my personal site, Dynumo and LinkedIn. When you follow a link, that website’s own privacy policy applies. LinkedIn in particular is run by a third party and uses cookies and tracking that I don’t control.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- ask me to correct personal data that is wrong
- ask me to delete your personal data
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use your personal data
Because the analytics on this site are anonymous and aggregated, I usually won’t be able to link any of that data to you. To make a request, email adam@dynumo.co.uk.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how your data has been handled, please contact me first so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.
Changes to this policy
If I change how this site handles data – for example, by adding or removing an analytics service – I’ll update this page and the “last updated” date at the top.
